Andhra Miriyala Annam | Spicy Pepper Rice Recipe


Pepper is the most common spice in almost every kitchen. This is not only a spice but also a medicine that cures and relives many diseases. This incredible spice helps in reducing respiratory diseases and digestion problems too. This spice is used as a food preservative also. This cures any inflammation in the body. Pepper has an important role in the history of India also.
So let us start cooking something with this spice. Pepper rice is very easy recipe and good for health. Pepper is packed with minerals and vitamins that help in reducing the fat and helps in fighting different health problems also.

Ingredients to Make Milagu Sadam:

3 cups of cooked white rice

1 1/2 tbsp ghee

1 tsp Cumin seeds

3/4 tsp Mustard seeds

1 1/2 tbsp Black pepper corns

1 1/2 tbsp Seasame seeds

10-12 Fresh curry leaves

Salt to taste

Miriyala Annam / Rice Preparation Method:

Take half cup of black pepper and roast them in a pan without adding any oil on a medium flame and add some sesame seeds and curry leaves.

Let the fry for a few minutes till the sesame seeds change their colour and you can smell the aroma. Turn off the flame and then grind the whole mixture into coarse powder.

Take a pan and add ghee in it and heat it. Add some mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them fry till they become brown.

In the meanwhile take required amount of rice and wash it thoroughly and cook it in a vessel or a rice cooker.

Once the rice is cooked, add this rice to the fried seeds and mix them well. Add the pepper fry to the rice and then mix it thoroughly so that everything mixes fine.

Miriyala annam is ready to serve. Eat when it is hot with some rasam or any gravy curry. Using fresh pepper corn will bring the dish more natural flavour than using a pre grinded pepper powder.

Even while you are planning to cook any dish with pepper you can use fresh pepper powder to preserve the taste and add good aroma to your dishes.
