How to Make Chukka Koora Pappu | Andhra Dal Recipe

Ingredients to make Chukka Koora Pappu :

1 small cup kandi pappu (tur dal/red gram dal)

1 1/2 – 2 cups finely chopped chukka koora (adjust)

1 onion, chopped

1 tomato, chopped (optional)

big pinch turmeric pwd

2-3 green chillis, slit lengthwise

1/2 tsp chopped ginger

2 cups water

1 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

3-4 crushed garlic cloves

2 dry red chillis

10-12 fresh curry leaves

2 tsps oil

salt to taste

Chukka Koora Pappu  Preparation Method:

Take a bunch of chukka koora and clean it .Chop the leaves. Chop onions, tomatoes and keep it aside. Take some green chillies and finely slice it. Now take a pressure cooker add dal and all the ingredients like chopped chukka koora leaves, tomatoes, green chillies and chopped onions. Cover with the lid and leave if for few minutes till the dal get cooked completely.

Take pan heat oil in it and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds .Let them splutter for few minutes and then add red chillies, garlic flakes and curry leaves. Fry it for few seconds and then add to the boiling dal. Let it cook for few minutes and add salt, turmeric powder to it. Mix well and then switch off the flame. Serve Chukka Koora Pappu hot with rice or chapatti.
