Ingredients to make Tomato Kothimeera Pachadi:
4-5 medium sized tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped fresh coriander
1 onion, sliced
1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
2 green chillies (adjust)
salt to taste
1 tbsp tamarind paste (optional)
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp oil
1/2 mustard seeds
1/2 tsp split gram dal
8-10 curry leaves
pinch of asafoetida (optional)
Tomato Kothimeera Chutney Preparation Method:
Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, mustard seeds fry it for few minutes and let them splutter for a minute and add chopped onion, chopped green chilies and fry them. Take a bunch of coriander and clean it. Add to the mixture fry it for few minutes and keep it aside.
Now heat oil in the same pan and add chopped tomatoes to it and fry them. Cook till the tomatoes get soft texture and cook it on a medium flame till the water evaporates completely from the tomatoes.
When it cooked remove from the flame and keep it aside to get into normal temperature.
Now take all the ingredients mixed coriander, fried tomatoes and small tamarind and make it into a fine paste by grinding all the ingredients together. Add salt and water to get paste.
Take a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves let it fry for a second. Add split gram dal and Leave it for a second on medium flame.
You can add asafoetida (Optional).Switch off the flame and add this to the tomato kothimira paste.
Serve Tomato Kothimeera Chutney with hot idly or dosa.
