Ingredients to make Godhuma Rava Palakura Pongal:
1 1/2 cups Godhuma Rava (Wheat Rava)
1/2 cup Pesara Pappu (split yellow moong dal)
1 cup chopped spinach
1/2 tbsp ghee
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp grated ginger
1 tsp peppercorns
2-3 green chillis
1-2 dry red chillis
pinch of inguva (hing/asafoetida)
salt to taste
10-12 curry leaves
5 cups of water
Godhuma Rava Pongal Preparation Method:
To prepare Godhuma Rava Palakura Pongal we need wheat rava. Take a bowl and wash this rava and drain the water. Take some moong dal and wash it and keep it aside. Soak the wheat rava for ten to fifteen minutes. Take a deep bottomed vessel and add some ghee to it and heat it. Take some cumin seeds and let them fry for a few seconds so that they turn brown in color.
Take some ginger and wash it thoroughly and cut them into small pieces and add these pieces to the ghee. Take some curry leaves and green chillies and red chillies and some pepper corn. Mix these well for a few seconds. Add some asafoetida to this and mix well.
Take some spinach leaves and wash them thoroughly to remove any sand. Now add these to the ghee and sauté them a little. Drain the water from the wheat ravva and add dal to this and add other remaining ingredients to this and add some water to the total mixture. Let it cook for about half an hour in a cooker. You can count for two whistles. Once the rava is cooked you can directly eat it as meal by adding some pickle or curd.
